Warabi mochi 蕨餅
The other day, same friend asked me about "Warabi mochi 蕨餅" I couldn't explane it well because I don't have any memories/images of it.
In this season(late spring to summer), I see it so often in supper markets,
japanese sweet shops or on the streets around my house. But I was not grown up near here, so for me, it's not my familiar taste at all. In kansai area people eat "Warabi mochi" much more than other parts of Japan. For me it's not familiar taste but for kansai people, maybe it's very familiar taste with good memories. If you have a chance to come to kyoto or kansai area in summer, I recomend you to try this tiny clear soft sweets. Maybe it'll help you to feel Japan more:D
sorry no photo now,
i'll upload it in a few days
Warabi mochi is a "bracken-starch dumpling" When you eat it, better to add soybean flour "kinako" (with sugger) or raw sugar molasses. It's so soft and feel cool :D Even though, my favorite way to eat is with ANKO(bean-paste ball) :P
